Lorraine Marie Photography | Modern Portraits for the Seattle Eastside bio picture
  • Welcome to My Photojournal!

I once heard it said that "...our achievements grow according to the size of our dreams and the degree to which we are aware of our destiny." I like that…a lot. Five years ago my dreams were small - but as time has gone on, and the awareness of my destiny continues to unfold before me, my dreams are beginning to soar!

I am not just a photographer – I am a friend who is here to create motivation and opportunity for you to express your life to the fullest with those you love, capturing those moments for you to treasure for a lifetime to come.

Life tells every story…once. Let me help you to start telling your story today! ~Lorraine Marie

tessa. ~senior photos, class of 2010 in seattle

Tessa and my daughter Alyssa have been friends since kindergarten.  And with that, they have the stories to tell!  So it was especially fun for Alyssa to join me for Tessa’s senior session and add one more story to their collection. Here are some of the favorites from her day…

And the Winner of the “Best of 2009 Portrait Contest” is…

…#21, Josh and Lindsey!

After tallying the 427 votes that came in through this blog and Facebook, Josh and Lindsey led the pack with 98 total votes for the winCongratulations you two! Josh and Lindsey will receive a 16×20 metallic canvas float wrap of their winning image, thanks to the support of their family and friends.  Woot!

Not far from the top was #3, Laura’s senior image coming in second place with 79 total votes.  Because she did such a good job of rallying her troops, we decided to include a 2nd place prize of an 11×14 mounted print for Laura of her model-icious senior portrait.  Congratulations, Laura!

Rounding out the top three was #16, Hylan and Rita with their grandson, Zion, gathering 66 votes.  They deserved to be rewarded as well, so they are receiving an 8×10 mounted print of this beautiful family moment.

We couldn’t leave it with just the top three taking home something special, without also acknowledging five other contestants who each received more than 20 votes each on their images.  So bringing home “Honorable Mentions” and a 5×7 print of their selected image are:  #9, Acacia with 37 votes; #18, Paula with 36 votes; # 20, Curtis and Kristine with 22 votes; #6, Traci with 20 votes; and #22, Andy and Annika with 20 votes.  Congratulations to all the winners and their family and friends – thanks for participating!

kids wanted! ~lorraine marie, seattle family photography

2010 is starting out to be an exciting year! For the first time at Lorraine Marie Photography, we have chosen to partner with a local charity – Starlight Children’s Foundation Washington – to create a beautiful fine-art book highlighting generational relationships of families in the Seattle area. For a $100 donation to Starlight, we are providing photographic sessions, studio time and processing time for families that want to be a part of this limited-edition book. So if you are a grandparent, or a parent who is interested in scheduling a session for your own kids and your parents, let me know – I’d love to talk with you. Just send me your info through my contact form, and I’ll be in touch!

To learn more about this project and the important work Starlight is doing in our local Seattle community as well as through Washington State, please visit http://www.grandparents.lorrainemarie.com/

watch her grow. ~lorraine marie, seattle pet photography

Last week, we skipped Madeline’s photo session – she just wasn’t growing that fast (or so I thought). Two weeks from the last check-in, you can really start to see the difference! Here she is at 14 weeks.

wedding album. ~lorraine marie, seattle wedding photography

I have wanted to show this for some time, but had to wait until after the holidays for Josh and Lindsey to surprise their parents with parent copies of their wedding album.   We met just before Christmas at Starbucks to deliver their album, and of course I brought my camera along to capture those first moments of seeing their wedding book for the first time, both with images and with live recording.  Instead of using words to describe the fun of this moment, I thought you’d enjoy watching it instead…enjoy!

Melesa Bolt - I am voting for #20

Nancy Landon - #3 is my vote. Love the background blurred. Almost a 3-D effect.
